Half Pound of Random Dice for Table Top RPG's and Miniatures games

Kraken Dice makes good and high quality dice. And if you like the randomness of the unknown then this is definitely for you! But as it turns out, it’s not for me. No fault to Kraken who sent lovely dice including a beautiful green chonk dice. This was simply me realizing my love lay elsewhere.

I have a weakness for grab bags, so I ordered a bag of random dice with my first order. Then I quickly ordered another bag because it was so fun to see what different dice I would get! I got a great assortment of both type and size. Resins, acrylics, a couple of raws, some rare and legendary rare singles, and everything in between. If you enjoy sampling different dice and the excitement of surprise, this is the buy for you!

The half pound bag came with a lovely assortment of dice. Some raw, but not too many. It has a nice assortment also of random sizes to suit my needs.

I enjoy this little gift for me. I was pleasantly surprised at the wide variety of dice. I liked it enough that I turned around and bought myself another mystery bag of dice.

So first off let me say that the quality of the dice included in the random half pounds of dice I ordered are all absolutely top notch. I’ve ordered a bunch of dice from Kraken over the last couple years and never been disappointed in the quality. That was as always 5 stars. The 3 stars in this review are for the composition of the product not its quality. If you’re ordering this thinking it will be like previous random half pound offerings you might find yourself a bit disappointed as I was. While the description states that there will be a full set of dice included and that wasn’t a surprise, what was a surprise was the fact that the included full set was just over a 3rd of the total dice I received. Maybe others had different experiences but in both of the bags I ordered this time I received a full 14 piece set. They account for right at 3 ounces out of the 8 ounces worth of dice in each bag. So only 5 ounces or just over 60% of the bag was actually random. And if you’re okay with that then this is an excellent product but if, like me, you were looking for something more like previous offerings of truly random dice be aware that’s very likely not what you’ll receive. Personally I’d prefer to see the full sets left out of future random offerings or limited to 7 piece sets so that you actually have more of the random dice. Or if you’re going to include 14 piece full sets maybe offer a 1lb bag that includes those and not a half pound bag. But that’s just my take. Your mileage may vary.

I was pretty happy with the random selection of dice. I got slightly less than half of raws, most of which were from the same set. My full set was one that I already have but that's not a big deal. I liked the mystery of it enough that I bought a second bag.

The included complete set was very nice, and of course it’s hard to go wrong with a half pound of any kind of dice, so I was very satisfied.

I just recieved my order of bags, and was pleasantly surprised. A nice mix of raw and finished dice. Managed to get a couple full 7 piece sets and even got an 11 piece finished set. Really fair value for the price. I will buy again.

When I purchased this bag (1/2 lb), I thought they would be playable, finished dice, but when they arrived, ~1/3 of the bag were raw dice. I, personally, haven't sought to purchase raw dice, because I lacked the tools to finish them, and while I have seen that it's not necessarily a difficult task, it is a step I was not expecting to have to take when making this purchase. It doesn't say anywhere in the item description that raw dice may be included, although I am aware that "entire collection" could include them, I suppose, but I took that to mean entire collection of finished, inked dice. At the very least, I guess I can finally practice on raw dice without feeling intimidated by the price, but I do think this item listing should clearly specify that raw dice are likely to be in the mix. Not everyone is craft-oriented, and it's reasonable that folks might assume they're getting random play-ready dice for their friends to use in a pinch. That said, I do like the assortment I received. I forgot how large the full sets can be so the included full set in the 1/2 bag is ~1/3 of the total dice in the bag, which I wasn't expecting, but it is a cute set I look forward to using myself. I just feel the description could be clearer about the raw dice aspect.
