beautiful in a very steampunk kind of way

This set is absolutely beautiful in a very steampunk kind of way! The photo of this set kept catching my eye over the years, but I kept passing on it because I was worried the numbers would be hard to read, or the finish would come out dull, and the few reviews I read here seemed too disparate for me to get a feel for whether the photo was an accurate representation. I'm so glad I finally got it! The finish is very glossy, the swirls are a prefect shade of red against the brass gears and the brass ink. Note: that these are intentionally inked with *brass* colored ink (just like the title states) -- not gold. It is not meant to be a bright glittery gold like many other Kraken dice. The ink is meant to match the brass gears on the inside, and it does so, perfectly! The photo is a very good representation of the set I got. It definitely lived up to my hopes. I was not even expecting the extra level of "elegance" it gives. The only die that might be difficult to read on occasion is the D4; sometimes you really have to get some direct lighting on the face to see the numbers clearly. This probably could be helped if it used the "flat corner" mold with the extra tiny numbers printed on the tips. With the rest of the dice, there is no problem reading the landed face.

This set went from being in the lower ranks of my wishlist to one of my favorite sets in my collection.

It appears more clear with a pink hue then red.

I wish it was actually red, but it looks more clear and pink.
